ewwww...you guys got pooped on by seagulls?? hahaha...i mean..i'm sorry. =)
i would just like to voice my disgust that it cost me $1.61 for a Starbucks frappuccino in the cafeteria downstairs. that's an outrage! i complain because it only costs $1.25 at most places (and i already thought that was expensive! you can get them for $1/bottle from costco). i know you're thinking, woah lis, it's only 36 cents. but every penny counts when you drink as many frapps as i do. besides, i thought cafeterias are supposed to be subsidized. i am also disappointed because nothing is free here except water (at the water fountain). we are forced to pay and eat here or starve. okay, it's not that bad but there are seriously no other buildings near here. just a big street and lots of trees.

hehe well, thanks for the invitation to join you guys! i actually don't have internet at work yet (haha.. it's so ironic, when my manager wants me to read something, he has to print it out for me :) but i like reading physical ink-on-paper better anyways, so i'm not complaining :) lis knows.. i *never* complain, about *anything* :) haha..)
but i'm supposed to pick up my laptop from intel tomorrow morning -- before they will issue me one, i need to first attend a class that teaches me how to use disk drives and the like :) so hopefully i can blog blog about my crazy adventures at work! adventures i tell you! :) umm.. well, you'll see soon enough!

Hey hey!!! So here's my first attempt at blogging my weekend events...I'll try to keep it relatively short. I went hiking/camping at Henry Coe State Park with Babak and 3 of his friends. It's some 30 minutes from Santa Clara...The drive there was terrible because it's this winding road up a mountain. That would've been reasonable except for the fact I went to a party the night before and drank a fair amount of beer. Sooooo... by the time we reached the top, me and Dano (the other person sitting in the back and the host of the infamous Friday night party) stumbled out of the car, looked at each other, and just closed our eyes and moaned. NOT a good way to start a hiking trip.
Anyway, once we started hiking, all the naseau was forgotten cuz it was so gorgeous up there. We did about 6-9 miles the first day, taking the long way to our campsite which brought us down the side of a mountain to a small creek. There we rested for a little bit (I napped), had a rock skipping competition, and snacked on random snack stuff. This was the first time I've ever skipped rocks. My first try was amazing -- at least 10 skips! After that, there was no doubt that what I was skipping was rocks...... heavy, very sinkable rocks.
We then made our way to our campsite along a path that kept crossing the creek. At the camp, we set up our tents, cooked up dinner -- burritos and miso soup, celebrated the summer solstice, was dinner for the mosquitos, sipped hot chocolate before calling it a night and crawling into our cozy sleeping bags. The night was refreshingly chill and cool. The sky was so littered with stars that it looked like a murky mess of light.
In the morning, we awoke to again perfect weather. In the rising sun, we had breakfast (toasted bagels, havarti cheese, and apples) and played a couple games of Pass the Pigs. We then packed up and headed back to headquarters. The creek path the day before was my favorite hike but my favorite moment was as we were hiking back there was this field of tall, golden, sun-baked grass simply rustling in the breeze. Standing there, it was so naturally quiet and peaceful, I closed my eyes and was content.
Two miles later, we were back at headquarters and then on our way back home down the winding path which this time around was not so brutal to my stomach. That's the gist of my weekend events. I'll try to post the pictures from the trip once they're available.
